Thanks for taking
the time and effort to participate in the Lower Sycamore Cleanup
on April 5th, 2005, hosted by the Arizona Game and Fish (AZGF)
and Tonto National Forest, Mesa District.
125 individuals signed in from various ATV, Motorcycle, 4x4 and
other Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) groups, as well as, members from
mining and a few outdoor organizations actively participated in
the clean up. In addition, trash bags were handed out to over 30
more vehicles that were going in to recreate in the area, that
had no idea that a clean up was in process, and agreed to police
the area they were recreating in.
The Arizona Game and Fish and Riding Arizona supplied the trash
bags, gloves and water and six AZGF Rangers to assist in Law
Enforcement and show presence, while the clean up was in effect.
The Tonto Forest, Mesa Ranger District supplied the garbage
truck for all the refuse collected. The Arizona Off Highway
Vehicle Coalition had an information booth set up that included
the Arizona OHV regulations, various AZGF, BLM and Forest
Service information as well as various club activity information
brochures. In addition, The AZOHVC was there to encourage
membership and answer questions regarding our statewide
organization.
The following OHV clubs participated and had members register
their volunteer time:
Riding Arizona (RA)
Dirty SOBS ATV Club (Dirty SOBS)
Arizona Trail Riders Motorcycle Club (ATR)
Rock Stars Motorcycle Club (Rock Stars)
Friends of Sycamore Group
Arizona Virtual Jeep Club (AZVJC)
Rock Crawlers Four Wheel Drive Club (RCFWDC)
AZXJ
Arizona Motorcycle Racing Association (AMRA)
Arizona Off Highway Vehicle Coalition (AZOHVC)
Most of these clubs are already part of the Arizona Off Highway
Vehicle Coalition which is the statewide umbrella organization
dedicated to pulling all Off Highway Vehicle Clubs together to
act as one voice with Public and Private Land Managers to keep
lands open for OHV recreation.
